RECYCLED ART JOURNALS
I make unique Art Journals featuring repurposed and rescued vintage book covers. Each journal is bound by hand and completely one-of-a-kind. Inside every Art Journal you’ll discover an inspiring mixture of colors, textures and patterns that coordinate with the cover: 100 hand-cut pages of vintage and modern paper, authentic vintage book pages and other ephemera.
Four drawings of Chuck Ragan, drawn by me, inkwash by Nation of Amanda. These were for an article by Dan Ozzi in the newest issue of New Noise Magazine (and make more sense in the context of the article).
My art improves to an unbelievable extent by simply shrinking it down for print. I don’t know why, but it’s a fact. And so I always draw things larger in real life than they’re gonna wind up in print.
With these above images, I went a little overboard and drew the originals WAY bigger than they were supposed to end up in the magazine (no idea why I decided to do that), and then I got the issue in the mail and the drawings were actually much, much smaller than I’d been told they would be, which means I drew the originals way way WAY WWAAAAYYYYYY bigger than I needed to. Insanity.
But I love how they turned out, especially the skateboarding one, and the article is actually very sweet. Working with the people at New Noise was super great because they were incredibly nice and actually paid me for my time without me even having to ask (you’d be surprised how many freelance art conversations end abruptly after me mentioning I charge for my work). A great experience all around, and I hope they have me back!
that top piece is one of my favorite things i have ever painted, and definitely my favorite thing we have ever made together.
See, Ryan? It’s just like I was saying at Theio’s the other day…

Today my shoulder - and thus my painting arm/hand - went out after only four hours at the studio. But instead of seeing it as a huge let down and giving up, I relaxed into it knowing I was doing the best I could - and that my best was more than enough.
Celebrate the little victories, and you’ll realize you accomplish a lot of really amazing things.(Gouache & acrylic & hand-written, in case you’re curious!)
Ice-T is a detective with the Special Victims Unit. He handles New York’s most sensitive cases. I love Ice-T on SVU! He’s fantastic, he’s awesome! What’s so great about him is that he’s been with the SVU for like… hmm… 11 years now, but he still treats every case like it’s his first in terms of total confusion.
there is a scene in the episode where the other detectives are trying to teach Ice-T what sex addiction is, and it takes a couple of minutes…
