“Reading to each other” was a common activity in the 1800’s and early 1900’s, especially among couples. But it’s rare enough today to be worthy of documentation. (via humansofnewyork)
When Harry Potter 7 came out, Tod & I couldn’t figure out how to decide who got to read it first, but San Diego Comic Con was less than a week away, and neither of us wanted to have it spoiled for us there, either. So I read more or less the entire book, out loud, to him while he pressed buttons and cut fliers and such. Consequently, I had a sore throat all of Comic Con. (Oops.)
